Let's Face It, From the first time I heard him all I could think was, "This guy can talk more and say less than anyone I've ever heard." It's been this way ever since.
It reminded me of Hamlet's ctitique..."T'was a tale told by an idiot. All sound and fury, signifying nothing." That's not to say I think he is not intelligent. I think he is intelligent, but perhaps he's been conditioned to follow someone's alse's agenda other than perhaps his own. And from the tone of his voice he seems to be to be lecturing, rather than talking to the listeners.

Wow! John is an incredible individual with a bright future. Channelling what Machiavellian poloticians "ACTUALLY" mean - INCREDIBLE! I've been waiting for years to find someone who can study the real intent of individuals dispite the words they choose to employ to communicate their beliefs and sentiments. Put me on your RSS man, you are my new swami!

Ron Paul! Yeah, we find common ground.

Here's to a third party, in 2012, that actually gets main stream media coverage.

...and actually, there were voices on the right objecting to Bush's actions. Michael Savage, Glenn Beck and Ron Paul come to mind as a few who warned against government expansion in the name of security.

I agree with you that Bush was not a conservative on many issues and McCain certainly is not. Republicans have simply been offering up candidates who are less liberal. I think the rise of conservative blogs (like this one and mine :) ) and the legitimate fear and anger expressed by many people out there reflects the fact that so many people now feel they have no one representing them in either party.

Fair enough... my objection was not completely aimed at your point about fear mongering. But my argument is definitely NOT "nanny nanny boo boo."

I do think a larger issue is raised by your original comments (and the original post for that matter) and it is to that larger issue which I object. That larger issue being:
Why were there no voices on the Right, throughout the Republican majority, 8 YEARS, pointing out that Government grew expeditiously and fear was (and is now) the primary political tool used by the Right to justify that growth, all the while whistling Conservatism.

When the Right is using fear to grow Government, it is okay because they use Conservative language. We excuse it. The only thing that seems to matter is catch phrases and scare tactics.

Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and Insurance companies ARE NOT CONSERVATIVE; they have an agenda- to keep control. Their arguments against Health-Care reform and other issues should not be re-digested by true Conservatives because it is based solidly on emotion, namely, fear.

The reason so many voted for Obama over McCain was because true Conservatism has been dead for at least 8 years and until Conservatives return to their original values, not just in words, but in actions and can demonstrate a capacity for reason over fear, Democrats will have control.

Reason will always (eventually) beat Fear as a political tool. It takes a long time, but finally most of us now see fear tactics for what they are; no matter from which side they come.

Thanks for the argument.

So your argument is "na na na, Bush did it too"? I never claimed that Bush was a fiscal conservative. I was pointing out that most of the "fear mongering" I have been hearing has come from the left. This ranges from global warming/cooling/the sky is falling to doctors and evil insurance agencies conspiring to remove body parts if left unchecked by the federal government. Thanks for pointing out that Bush wasn't a fiscal conservative either though, that makes it all ok.

Fear, fear, fear, some hate, more fear, lack of logic, fear, fear and hate.

And what was our deficit when Bush took office? How much did the Government grow? How many checks were written to Banks to keep them solvent under Bush's term? Conservative? How so?
A free market would have been allowed to collapse.

It is painful to take the time to try and reason with such ignorance, but here goes...
First, how can you possibly say Obama hates free speech? He has allowed free speech to reach its absolute limits without any interruption.
Second, by saying "Negro party" you are proving that no one hates free speech, the hate you are referring to is being projected-- coming from yourself, toward something new and different (a non-white president). You are afraid. Go back and read Animal Farm a few more times... eventually, you'll understand why you misread it the first time. Also, read to Kill a Mockingbird. Good luck.

That is not what he ACTUALLY said. He implied those specialist are motivated by greed and not the Hippocratic Oath. Specialist are paid more because they have longer and more rigorous training and must be involved in more risk than the family Physician. Isn't this line of logic just divide and conquer? More PCP's than specialist...hmm maybe we can create class envy between doctors. How do you improve patient compliance by a fee structure? Utter tripe.

Its option #1. Obama hates fre market, free speech, America. Just like every other liber fascist he spouts platitudes and then breaks his own rules. As in "Animal Farm" the pigs are more equal than the other animals.

Wake up America, we have a white hating, racist socialist and the Negro Party loves it.

Its funny how the right is always accused of "fear mongering". Yet, just in the past few months we have had to pass a "stimulus" package or the economy would collapse, bail out GM or the economy would collapse, pass cap and trade or the skies will burn and polar bears will become extinct. Now we have to pass Obamacare, immediately, to keep evil insurance companies from taking advantage of us ignorant common folk, and, of course, to keep doctors from lopping off body parts unnecessarily.
To your point John, Obama needs to do some more reading. This is the second time that he has made statements implying that somehow the current system incentives doctors performing questionable surgeries. Apparently, he is unaware that 1 Doctors take an oath not to do such things and often face lawsuits even when they do everything right, and 2 the primary care physician doesn't get reimbursed for removing a child's tonsils even if he did have an uncontrollable urge to do so.

Your attitude is frightening. If you had taken a moment to quote much more of the statement than what you had read in "Investors Business Daily" your editorial could have been filled with a little more fact and a little less implications inferred upon what Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh have said in their recent columns.
(You can find the rest here at http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/12/us/politics/12obama.text.html?pagewanted=12&_r=1)

"All I'm saying is let's take the example of something like diabetes, one of --- a disease that's skyrocketing, partly because of obesity, partly because it's not treated as effectively as it could be. Right now if we paid a family -- if a family care physician works with his or her patient to help them lose weight, modify diet, monitors whether they're taking their medications in a timely fashion, they might get reimbursed a pittance. But if that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that's $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 -- immediately the surgeon is reimbursed. Well, why not make sure that we're also reimbursing the care that prevents the amputation, right? That will save us money. (Applause.)"

What he was ACTUALLY saying was that our current insurance model favors specialists, whereas there should be a larger focus on family care physicians and preventative care which can help PREVENT amputations. Obama is not trying to diminish the skill or need for the surgeon, or take funding away from them for the job they need to do but that we should make sure that the patient is cared for from the beginning before they get to the surgeon. He is also looking at the larger medical landscape and how focusing on properly reimbursing things like preventative medical care will lead to more nurses, and family care physicians. These are all ideas that have
the pubic in mind.

So before you go touting that Obama's ideas are monstrous or that he is purely evil...do a little more reading. This is the same reason the nuts are screaming about death panels outside the town hall meetings, they are making assumptions based on what they're told not what they know.
