"Why don't you read the entire Amendment? Maybe the part about well-regulated militias?"

Say, what are militias anyhow? Oh that's right, they're groups of individuals who take up arms to collectively defend themselves.

"State militias" my ass... this isn't about the National Guard here. This is about self-defense, a natural, God-given right!

If this is an example of a Liberal's idea of a rebuttal, then God help us.

To me it doesn’t matter if the 2nd Amendment or the Bible gives me the right to protect my Family or not, something gave me the right to serve my Country and protect my Family and I did. And I will again if it comes to it, although I am now over 70.Stand on your feet don’t let them force you to your knees! If you don't STAND UP!!!You might end up like the JEWS who died under Hitler.

The assertion that the 2nd Ammendment is a God-given right is ludicrous. 2nd Ammendment is about right to bear fire arms, not about self-defense generally. There is nothing in the Bible about guns, gun ownership, etc., either literally or symbolically. It's unwarrented to extrapolate generic self-defense rights to gun rights in specific.

Even if it were warrented, the biblical passage quoted has been grossly misinterpreted. Seen in the context of the Last Supper, the author of Luke is speaking symbolically. Why does Jesus say, in verse 22:38 that only two swords are "enough" for 12 disciples? Because the two swords are symbolic of the prophecy that the Messiah would be crucified between two criminals. I agree that people have the right to defend themselves and their loved ones (by any means necessary), but how do we extrapolate gun policy from the Bible, which was written prior to the invention of guns? This passage mentions swords, but what about the individual's right to own an M-60? I don't understand how you can strictly adhere to the rules of the Bible while also reading it however you want.

The problem is, you are looking at this all wrong. Every good socialist knows there is no God and, therefore, no God given rights. There are privelages the government choses to bestow on its people but they can also take these away when deemed necessary. I hope you see where you went wrong now.

I read this at the Patriot Room and as I said there... quoting the Bible can get you in a whole lot of trouble as it contradicts itself on most topics.
