What I would love to understand is why so many conservatives feel the need to drag God or morality into every argument? Why is there this unreasonable certainty that God loves our country so much more than any other? Why attack Obama as an individual rather than criticize his actions on their merits or lack of them?

It is these questions that deter so many from the side of conservatives that honestly have a very real belief in some of the core values that they share, but the tone of many conservatives within the media, and even this site parallel the extremist that our brave men and women in uniform fight overseas, and even here within our own borders.

There is a real danger in that. Now you may wonder if I'm a believer why I would feel that God and morality are irrelevant to arguments for me, its simple, because its not about me or my beliefs, but about bringing my audience to a place of understanding, and empathy for the ideas that I wish to promote, and encourage them to take as their own. In doing that one has to have humility and make and argument that holds value for nearly all people NOT JUST PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE AS YOU DO.

As Americans we sometimes forget that one of the strengths and beauties of our nation is its diversity and its ability to respect differences between people, its this that makes us better than other nations if anything not how we choose to worship our God, or how we refer to him.

At the end of the day WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION, and even if we were it wouldn't matter. If a country simply has a larger standing army with a strategic advantage, economy, and good moral, they would win, period. No Christian nation or empire throughout history has been able to avoid its down fall and somehow beat the logistics every time in deference to their faith, nor is that the purpose of faith and prayer.

Nobody here got their job simply by praying for it, you all trained, and worked hard and sacrifice, and made sure you were one of the most qualified people for the job, and prayed for the patience and strength to endure those trials

All American's regardless of their political party, personal beliefs, or lifestyle, is working for and hoping for a better future for out nation as a whole.

I would love to know how name calling, rhetoric, and religious fluff accomplishes this? If God wants anything from us its probably to stop bickering like children, putting down our picket signs, and picking up our hands, rolling up our sleeves, and working toward the changes necessary to make this a better America and a better world for everyone.

Logistically speaking its serves the christian ideal more to spend ones time building habitats for humanity, volunteering at a shelter, or donating plasma, the picketing an abortion clinic, or worrying about the gays. When are we going to get back to the business of helping people?

It's funny how conservatives claim Obama has "ruined" America when in reality he has been in office for 6 months with little proof this. Bush, on the other hand, has a proven track record of ruining our international reputation, driving our economny into the ground, and has given more power to the executive office than was ever intended. I didn't pass judgement on Bush until after his first term, and gave him the benefit of the doubt after winning a second term, but it only reinfoced my feelings on his political stance. So please refrain from forming opinions based on what Rush Limbaugh says on his talk show and wait until Obama has actually ruined America before claiming he has, and if he truly does ruin this country and further than Bush has I will stand beside you, but until then I am putting faith in the man I voted for, just like I did for a President I didn't vote for before he DID ruin our America.
It has, operationally, de facto, been Godless and thus irrelevant. Secular conservatism will not defeat secular liberalism because to God they are two atheistic peas-in-a-pod and thus predestined to failure. As Stonewall Jackson’s Chief of Staff R.L. Dabney said of such a humanistic belief more than 100 years ago:

”[Secular conservatism] is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is today .one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will tomorrow be forced upon its timidity and will be succeeded by some third revolution; to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt hath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it be salted? Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It .is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth.”

Our country is collapsing because we have turned our back on God (Psalm 9:17) and refused to kiss His Son (Psalm 2).
