Hemp was grown mainly for the fibers. Not often for the seeds, or the buds either for that matter. If they had grown more hemp for the nutrional protein oils and more of the buds for the medicinal resin, stocking hospitals with a supply, there would certainly have been far less disease. As it turns out, we have learned a great deal about the cannabis plant and it's benneficial qualities over the last century. When they made it illegal it was evolving and beginning to show signs of being the next multi-billion dollar industry, as the Popular Mechanics magazine reported in 1938. Only recently has it been proven that the extracted rezin from the buds is an effective remedy for many so called incurable diseases.
However neither is the stimulous. I'm saying that one way to take a huge load of the burdon of government spending is to stop useless and unconstitutional persecutions, like cannabis prohibition. The government will save all of that money that's being used to investigate, prosecute and keep in jail millions of non-violent people for growing or smoking an herb. Also, all of that money that people will be able to save by getting inexpensive yet high qualitiy medicinal THC as a remedy for their illnesses, will also stimulate the economy. Not to mention the fact that the high yielding high protein hemp seed plants can become a major food source, compensating greatly for inflation on meats. And yes, this one plant can be the back bone of a thriving new series of industries that can be sustainable in every state.

"Only for the time being, Robert. Jimmy Carter got to lead the country to the brink of hell for four years, but then we had 25 years of prosperity once his way of doing things was debunked. "

So we'll have 25 years of prosperity once Bush's failed policies are debunked? Sounds great to me. I'm no economist, but I'm pretty sure that giving more tax cuts while we're at war (Bush was the first President ever to do this) after 8 years of that failing, isnt the best thing to do.

The stimulus package falling in popularity is a direct result of Republican attacks on it dominating the airwaves. Obama is a step behind the GOP as far as the propaganda machine is concerned. Democrats are too busy trying to appeal to the Republicans in the senate who won't vote for it anyways in order to avoid a filibuster. Republicans seem to think that playing political games with the 1% of spending that they object to is more important than that 99% of spending that will give jobs to the people they represent.

It's funny because I actually do agree with the main point of this article. Republicans should just let Democrats do what they want, and if it fails they will have all the glory. For some reason, Republicans want to stay involved here so that they can stay relevant. This goes against their old plan of "Obama's not being bi-partisan!!", and it is really backing them into a corner. Now, not only do they look like the whining minority, they are also being obstructionists in Congress. This is the opposite of where the party should be heading, and Obama's recent 75% approval rating shows that America realizes how much trouble the GOP is in. More people approved of Bush than disapproved of Obama, go figure.

However, bickering about small things along the way is only going to get them more involved. Let the Dems do what they want, let the people see what a Democratic government is actually like, and let them decide for themselves.

The answer to the economic crisis is simple, and it doesn't require any government intervention or bailout stimulus packages. Legalize hemp cultivation, which will save billions in enforcement of unconstitutional prohibition laws and open up several multi billion dollar cottage industries. Small businesses galore.

The economic crisis threatens to cause an enormous outbreak of poverty, homelessness, hunger and a rise in crime.

With the budget pressures that our government is faced with they have enough problems just keeping the government running.

Legalizing hemp cultivation will drastically cut government spending on a law enforcement scheme that serves no good purpose, and is not in the interest of public safety, public health or public morality.

Hemp yields material that can be used to create a multitude of new industries based in the US.

Hemp fiber makes great textiles that are manufactured with eco-fiendly processes.

Hemp fibers make the strongest natural rope and twine.

Hemp pulp makes paper that is more recyclable than paper from wood, and saves trees.

Hemp fiber composites are used to make eco-friendly building products.

Hemp cellulose is used to make all kinds of bio-degradable plastic, including plexiglass.

Hemp seed makes the most nutritional food known to man.

Hemp seed oil is used for fuel, cooking, lighting, lubricant and skin care.

Hemp products are used for all kinds of cosmetics and bath products.

Hemp plants are used as a barrier to keep out animals and pests from gardens.

	Hemp is a natural pesticide.

Hemp is used for all kinds of pet care products, especially food.

Hemp plants are used to make ethanol.

Hemp tops A.K.A. marijuana flowers are used to make the most multi-purpose medicine on the planet which can be grown at home allowing people to save money that would otherwise be spent on hospital bills, pharmaceuticals and or illicit drugs.

Legalizing hemp cultivation would provide millions of jobs, cut healthcare costs, and deplete the funding of the black market.

Legalizing hemp cultivation would ensure that there would never be a shortage of nutritional food.

Restoring people's right to grow hemp on their own property would allow them to self-medicate and prevent disease.

Allowing doctors and hospitals to have access to a large supply of cannabis medicine would enable them to save millions of lives.

Allowing and encouraging inner city impoverished people to grow hemp in community gardens would open up a world of horticulture.

The wonders of the hemp plant and it's many uses will inspire people to get involved with gardening in general.

The increase in home gardening would give people a more positive/creative outlook on life, leading to healthier communities.

The more people are exposed to the wonders of gardening and farming the more people will appreciate life in general and be more happy because they will have so many ways to improve their lives without going into debt.

You should link to my site if you like my content. Otherwise you should not. I don't do trades. My readers need to know that I personally enjoy the sites that are on that list.

Obama got elected partially because such high percentages of voters thought Republicans controlled Congress for the past two years and thus were responsible for all the mess. The one good thing about the situation we're in right now is that everyone knows that the Democrats now have full control of Washington, meaning they'll be forced to take the blame when everything goes South.

By the way, I’ve just started a new blog that will be highlighting the dangerous advances of the secular progressive movement (pro-gay “rights”, pro-abortion, anti-religious freedoms, etc).

We’re looking to build a solid group of conservatives who’ll frequent our site regularly and contribute to some good discussions. The site gets updated daily with breaking news, so you’ll want to check back often, or you can just sign up for our News Feed.

If you’ll add us to your blogroll we’ll gladly add you to ours. Just drop us a comment over at our blog so that we’ll know to add you. Our blog is called Religion and Morality.

Thanks!

Maybe the lessons will stick this time. "

That sums up humanity Scott, plain and simple. Humans are destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over, because of our nature. Sometimes there are smart people who study history and try to make educated guesses on what NOT to do, but most do not. Hence every few decades the country has to plunge to near depression levels in order to wake up. Problem is, every time government creeps a little more, programs get added bit by bit, size expands, bit by bit. Eventually the scale will tip and we will become Sweden.
