I get many emails from people asking for my advice on how to start a new conservative blog. I'm always willing to help anyone who is serious about learning and doing the hard work necessary to grow a blog. I am most effective at helping people build traffic, and if you fit that criteria, feel free to contact me. But London Locke, a new blogger who I am proud to say I have had some hand in helping get his blog off to a fast start, has a great post up today that will give you a good starting point. I will highlight the part where he talks about me, but I encourage you to check out the whole article: How to Start a Conservative Blog: Lesson 1
Step 5: Connect with other bloggers
If you can find other bloggers that are willing to impart some of their knowledge to you. In the beginning Scott Martin from Conservatism Today helped me through the difficult process of blogging and answered a lot of my questions. I found his site while searching for conservative blogs and just emailed him because his About page said he lived in Arizona. He emailed me back and the rest was history. Since that time we have participated in live blog debates, met for drinks, and chatted about conservative things late into the night.
The point is this industry is one where finding mentors helps out tremendously. Also getting people to help you will eventually increase your readership because they become invested in your success to some degree. If your content is good they will reference your content on their own blog.
That last paragraph is proven true by the fact that I am making this post. I never would have known who he was, had he not contacted me for advice and begun to put it to use. And I would have one less friend. It's a win/win.
