Shocker. Seven months into its foray into the world of socialized medicine, Hawaii has decided that the damn thing just doesn't work. Why? The unintended (but easily predictacle) consequences.
People who were paying for their children’s health care through an employer or other means stopped paying for it because they could now get it for free. Imagine that!?
So now take that same idea, free health care for those that don’t have it, and apply it to our entire country. Under Obama you could keep paying for your own or stop paying it (remember that few employers cover ALL employee benefits and most still make you pay some premium for family) and go for the free program. What would you do?
From Fox News:
Gov. Linda Lingle's administration cited budget shortfalls and other available health care options for eliminating funding for the program. A state official said families were dropping private coverage so their children would be eligible for the subsidized plan.
"People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free," said Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services. "I don't believe that was the intent of the program."
Carry this forward to the whole nation, and it's easy to come to the conclusion "Offended" reaches:
The end result is that before too long everybody is on the ‘free’ health plan, for which we are all paying taxes on, and it bankrupts the nation. Swell idea.
Swell, indeed.
