Over at the Trunk Report, I found this piece about the youth vote, written by London Locke, a youth at Arizona State University. Before the following excerpt, he talks about historic youth turnout, the fact that young Republicans are much more likely to vote than young Dems, and some other iunteresting stuff. Check it out.
I wrote earlier regarding Obama visiting Arizona prior to the primary. I had never seen that size of a crowd for a visitor, it was amazing. The kids were in a zombie like state cheering for everything that came out of Obama’s mouth. I thought to myself, “oh no maybe they will vote.” Guess who won the youth in Arizona come primary time? It was Mitt Romney and he won by a HUGE margin. It looks like all those supporters sporting change T shirts didn’t want to “change” their schedule to go to vote for their candidate. You might argue well that was a primary what about a general election? Still, not going to happen and happen significantly enough to make a spit of difference.
I was at the same rally as a photographer, and can attest to his accurate portrayal of the audience there.
