First Charlie Gibson botches a quote in an outrageous attack on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, and now this:
“Palin Links Iraq to 9/11, A View Discarded by Bush"
By Anne E. Kornblut Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, September 12, 2008; A01FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska, Sept. 11 -- Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."
The idea that Iraq shared responsibility with al-Qaeda for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. On any other day, Palin's statement would almost certainly have drawn a sharp rebuke from Democrats, but both parties had declared a halt to partisan activities to mark Thursday's anniversary.”
That's all well and good, Ms. Nimrod Reporterette, but you must not know that WE AREN'T FIGHTING IRAQ ANYMORE, or else that makes you quite the ignoramus. Either that, or you are a malicious, lying, sleazebag. Take your pick. Jeez, two in one day.
Obviously, Palin was telling the soldiers that they were on the way to Iraq to protect innocent Iraqis from remaining members of Al Qaeda in Iraq, a group which is (less and less) active in Iraq and was linked to Al Qaeda.
Makes you wonder what the hell lies we all missed back when we didn't have thousands of people outside of the mainstream media holding these lying idiots to their own supposed "standards."
Nice job, Washington Post.
UPDATE: The Post has updated the second paragraph to still include the lie about what she was supposedly saying, but also include the truth: The idea that the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein helped al-Qaeda plan the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, a view once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. But it is widely agreed that militants allied with al-Qaeda have taken root in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion.
So, apparently, Kornblut really is a moron? Or were they just caught? Either way, I remain highly amused at how difficult it was to get a job with these idiots out of college, and thankful that I chose not to.
