For some reason, my trackback didn't work!

Our good friends on the left -- both here and in Europe -- simply don't understand conservatives; my policy is to respect liberals as intelligent people who have simply come to wrong conclusions, usually because they have started from false initial premises. But it seems as though our friends on the left simply assume that conservatives must be stupid.

One of my pet theories is that if our friends on the left ever admitted to themselves that their opponents could actually be intelligent, that they'd be left with a crushing insecurity that their own ideas might be, gasp! wrong.

Of course, it's always easy to see yourself as winning a debate by taking the position that your opponents are simply stupid; then all you have to do is dismiss their arguments as stupid without ever actually defeating them.

I can't remember but recently a UK reporter wrote an article on trying to understand why Americans kept voting for Republicans. The article asked the question, "Are Americans idiots?", and his answer was, "well yes." I love that entitled democrats keep scratching their heads because they will never understand or accept that mainstream Americans think most of their policies are junk!
