People who post things like "How about a post about how the economic mess we are in is due to the excessive deregulation efforts of the past 15 years," when deregulation has absolutely nothing to do with our current problems, crack me up.

So do self-described "economic liberals" who claim to be against "socialist payouts."

Posts like this - from both sides of the aisle - is the reason why the internet has failed in it's billing to raise the public discourse. Every blogger could spend every waking hour reporting on the stupid things that famous people say and then disingenuously tie them in with the candidate they might happen to support.

Is that the debate you think we should be having? The stupid things that some Obama supporters say vs. the stupid things that some McCain supporters say?

Here's an idea: Grow Up.

Here's another idea: How about a post about how the economic mess we are in is due to the excessive deregulation efforts of the past 15 years? While the execution has been bipartisan (not including the regulatory rollback attempts this decade from Dems like Senator Feinstein who saw all this coming) it's been driven by exclusively philosphically conservative economics. Thanks (party) to Reagan and (moreso to) the Gingrich Revolution, you guys won. The fruit of your victory is that you've been getting your way since the middle of the last administration.

And how does the Bush Adminisration propose we fix it? With the single greatest 1-time socialist payout in the history of the country, which has even economic liberals like me absolutely sickened by the very notion of it. But short of allowing a correction that will (best case) set our economy back to the conditions of the 1970s or (worst case) create another another Great Depression, no one has any better ideas.

How in the world are you going to try to spin the responsibility for this onto the liberals? My, your work is certainly cut out for you! You'll have to invent a few whoppers, I suppose. Either that or write more posts about topics like Josh Howard. Best of luck to you.

Unreal. In what other country does this douche think being able to dunk a basketball makes him such a hero to others, and more importantly, so rich?

Maybe America is damned, because of people like Mr Howard, who don't want to admit, that besides whatever they might dislike about this country, its politics and society, that they still got a shot at the American dream.
