I grew up "white" in a very mixed race So Central LA, c. 1951-67. We didn't call it SoCentral just Home. I had black friends, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Japanese, Chinese etc but we were all Americans. Public school back then prepared the next generation of AMERICANS. We were not taught to hate America. We did not APOLOGIZE for America as Pres B Hussein does all over the world.
I went to college, BA Math, then USMC, enlisted, 6 yrs total, in and out of the USMC, many jobs, got a class A driver's lic, was a garbage man, soil tester, matls tester of all kinds, asphalt, steel, concrete etc. I now have 37 yrs svc DWP Los Angeles Dept of Water and Power. Hydrographer. That's "Hydro" for hydro and graph for graph. Apologies to Rocket J Squirrel cartoons. I say get a job, study everything you can, scuba diving, etc, like I did, join the Military if you have no direction in your life, work hard, get a reputation for being a good worker, "plays well with others", do not tatoo your body all over, do not rob the tamale lady of her $20. Life is simple if you follow my advice. Not easy but simple and productive

You sure do a lot of whining yourselves... some of these comments are more like essays on why America needs to invest more in education. Here's one thing government has done well - WIN WARS. Here's another - DELIVER MAIL. Here's another - BUILD & MAINTAIN HIGHWAYS. Here's another - FREE EDUCATION FOR ALL. Shall I continue?

Notice these are all progressive, SOCIAL programs that benefit the majority of this country. You spew nonsense in the name of conservatism, but really you are ignorant anti-liberals, with no actual thoughts or ideas on how best to improve life in America.

Open a book once in a while and you might learn that the greatest expansion of wealth in this country took place between 1948 - 1973, an immediate and lasting result of FDR's 'New Deal' aka major investment in social programs. It is only since 1980 have we seen a great contraction of wealth for the average citizen (earning 1% more in real wages than 30 years ago) whereas the average CEO has seen their real wages increase over 600%.

France does a lot of things better than this country, namely health care & banking, and they don't have the severe obesity problems of this country. America needs to cut the fat, namely 'conservatives' such as yourselves who are simply slowing this country down.

These people are nuts! If anyone can produce a tearjerker of a life it is me! But I would rather figure out where I need to be and how to get there then cry about it. If I didn't cry when Obama got elected....and trust me him running this country gives me plenty to feel woeful about....I am not going to cry over anything else. Then again I am not an emotional retard.

True story, when Obama got elected there were fierce winds howling outside my apartment. There were quite loud and I told my son, "See God is mad because Obama won." So like a trooper he is, he said, "Sorry Jesus." and the wind stopped. It was too weird. But then again his name does mean Lord. So I guess it was one Lord listening to the other.

Really enjoyed your article. Reminded me of something I wrote a few years ago. It rambles a bit I realize.

Before any of you mentions it, I realize I’m whining about whiners. You’ve caught me.

To all you whiners:

Stop whining & complaining– if you don’t like it, then do something to make it better. If you spent just half as much time trying to fix things instead of complaining about them, the world would be a better place.

Run for office, clean up the mess, be nice, smile, actually do something - just don’t sit there.

To the Politicians: Most of you are self-serving liars and we accept that. (Sorry Ladies and Gentleman of our Government, you've dug your own grave on that one.) Please try to keep the big picture in mind and stay out of our way. Most of us want to get on with our lives, raise our families and not be overwhelmed by taxes, stupid laws or read about your latest drunken escapade.

To Celebrities, rock stars, movie stars: No one really cares what you think. Seriously. The media cares, but most Americans do not. We don’t care what you think about the war, global warming, who you’re marrying this week, if you’re pregnant, if you're not pregnant, why you're not pregnant, or who you’re divorcing next week. Instead of impressing us with your lack of morals, try spending some time on coming up with an original movie instead of a remake of a remake. (And by original I mean a movie that doesn’t make big business, the military or the government out to be the devil.)

The "News" Media: You’re not fooling anyone. You’re worse than the politicians. At least the politicians are somewhat honest about their self-serving attitudes. You’ve moved into the entertainment business and your opinions are less worthless than the celebrities, with a few exceptions.

Guys and Girls: We’re different. We’re never going to understand each other. Get over it.

Girls: To borrow a phrase, “We’re just not that into you.” And we’re not sorry about it.

Guys: Be a man. Quit whining. It makes us all look pathetic – and we really don’t need any more help in that area.

On being a man: Look up the word 'honor'. Don’t whine. Don’t beg. Get a job. Get a better job. Stand up and take responsibility. Be nice. Take out the trash. Fix something. When you see something wrong, try to make it better – even if it is hard. Especially if it is hard.

To all you America Bashers: Don’t like America? No problem. Try living in another country for a year or two and then tell me how America sucks. Seriously, give it a try. I hear France is nice. That 35 hour work week is doing wonders for their economy.

To the Liberals: Probably the biggest group of whiners on this list. Talk about a group of people who don’t get it. Give me one example of something the government does well. And you want the government to run Health Care?! What are you thinking? Yeah, Socialism is working well in France. (Seriously, what are you thinking?)

To the Trial Lawyers: Shakespeare may have had it right. Try not to give us any more reasons to despise you.

To the ACLU: You guys need to get a grip. For a supposed "non-partisan" group you sure have a decided tilt to your political agenda. (Guess which way?) And if you're going to protect the Bill of Rights, how about protecting ALL of them. I don't have a problem if you don't like one of the amendments, I do have a problem when you say you protect the Bill of Rights then only pay lip service to the one you don't like.

Finally to everyone: When did it become the American Way to stand around and wait for someone else or the government to solve your problem? And then complain about the solution? Depending on others – government programs and employers – is the sure path to bitterness and disappointment. Shut your pie hole, get off your ass and do something.

I always get a kick out of people who make themselves out to be the victim of society when they know very well they're not. I love when I see Al Sharpton on television telling blacks they are dumb because it just shows how ignorant he is. This is American and you can do anything. If anyone tells you different than stay away from them because they are jealous.

Trust me today's politics is high school drama only this time around it's adults in Armani suits and private jets.

We are better than this whining America. I have faith in YOU, and hope you have faith in me.

I might be only nineteen but I will not back down, I will not stand by as my Country is killed from the inside.

I love this country, don't you?

I really enjoyed the "stop whining america" article, it was quite entertaining.

The only complaint I have, is at the beggining,
where you reference "stop being a whiny little bitch" which I think is a putoff to some people continuing to read the rest of your wonderful article.
Other than that, You are right when you say people need to take more control of their life & not expect goverment to do everything for them.

 Keep up the good work!!
