Why waste our time with this? I guess it helps to vent. I applaud GHH on his/her rational analysis of the writer's article. There are so many fallacies being bandied about by so called conservatives that I would need to write a dissertation to address them all and unfortunately, time does not permit. We all want the inalienable rights, of life, liberty and property that were guaranteed to us by the founding fathers in our constitution. Neither democrat nor republican, want to fund individuals who choose to abuse our social programs. The vast majority of Americans want the same things. A perfect society is an ideal and not a reality. Throughout our history and the history of developed societies, we have seen what occurs when governments are not in place to control those who control capital. We need government to protect society not only from outside invaders but from corporate raiders whose interests are diametrically opposed to common workers and non-stake holders. Finally, to those myopic, dogmatic, recalcitrant conservatives I offer the hope that they are never in the situation of those that they despise. For many of them are people who have struggled mightily to no avail or fortune and are only railed against for their failures by their fellows.

How can you possibly ignore the fact that Bush basically ignored intelligence about bin Laden, including a report titled "bin Laden determined to strike within US" and then go on to say that Democrats are weak and will open the floodgates to terrorism?

I am really not a huge fan of Obama's either, but I really don't think that this ridiculous list is going to sway anybody's opinion one way or the other. Although I'm sure this article was written with the best intentions, I can't help but feel like this is more of the same old "if you vote for the other guy then we're all doomed!" mantra that is driving so many people away from the conservative party (myself included). I have a request for this author that shouldn't be too hard to meet if he really believes this:

I would like to see some EVIDENCE that any of this will happen. Because Obama got elected, we'll have Carter-esque gas shortages? We're going to be invaded by terrorists because a Democrat is in office? Nobodies can become infinitely powerful under Obama? None of this sounds like it is anywhere close to reality and I would simply like to see some data that would support these asinine claims.

Also, suggesting that Obama won just because he's black is equally as asinine and is equally unsupported by the evidence. Maybe Americans just got tired of the same policies that had failed so miserably over the last 8 years? I don't really understand how someone who supports Bush could complain about a president being unqualified....

If you support the "reverse racism! Obama only won because he's black!" claims, then how do you explain the fact that republicans continually win states that have huge black populations, especially in the south?

Like I said before, I'm not an Obama fan (or even a Democrat), but if you are going to hate on the guy, at least hate him for things that actually exist. This post is just an irresponsible farce, its things like this that have driven the American people to mocking this once great party.

You are so right and with the present conditions in this country I hope that people realize how the lack of exsperience this president has is going to bite us in the butt. As to the Bush admin. Karen- contrary to your belief/preset expectations, a lot of conservatives have a habit of putting America first above party affiliation. When did we ever go overseas and bad mouth the presidency like dems do? We're flag wavers, remember? Our children join the military in service of this country. Trust that when the country is in peril and President Hussein needs our collective support, we will be there if not for him, then for the country. We always have. Our grandfathers served and sacrificed in WWII. The same war that has enabled this historical time for all Americans. I would have to agree that I'm sure many people voted for Obama because of his race. Despite this, many others did not. You seem to think (not just imply) that he is unqualified. While I would grant that his credentials do not match those of McCain's, due to the fact that he is still quite young, I believe that he has what it takes - the intelligence and character - to do a fantastic job. I know your top '10' list was probably a lot of fun to make, and it was funny at points, but I do hope that, jokes aside, you will work - along with the rest of us - to try and make the most out of this presidency. Whatever you think of him or his politics, a divided country is a vulnerable one. And you can't change the fact that he is now your president-elect, so I do hope you will stop bitching and start focusing on how you could work with others to improve things. We've had to endure 8 years under an administration that has CREATED enemies (not just stoked the fires) internationally. I think Obama has the chance to fix that... and make more headway in international relations and diplomacy. You'd be amazed how people can respond when they feel their voice is heard, and their needs acknowledged (however, seemingly, irrational to us). Anyway...best of luck to you!

More Obama Perks! 1) We no longer have to put up with these evil companies -- who provide a necessary product and give people jobs -- making a profit. There can't be anything worse for the economy than successful companies that actually make money. 2) No more fretting over which companies to invest in. With the soon-to-be-stratospheric Capital Gains Tax there really won't be any point in investing! 3) Shopping Spree!!! No point in trying to save money to leave for the kids after you're gone. Ahh, you forgot a very important benefit of an Obama win - resolving the illegal immigration crisis. The illegals come in to get jobs, and once the Obama presidency takes hold there will be so many fewer jobs the illegals will go home!
